National Guard forces to arrive in Jefferson Parish


SHREVEPORT, La. –Convoys
carrying approximately 300 Soldiers from the 2nd Squadron, 108th Cavalry
Regiment, headquartered in Shreveport,
La.
, are scheduled to depart for
Jefferson Parish on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m.

A
convoy of more than 50 vehicles will leave the Shreveport armory 1 p.m. The mission for the
Squadron will be to conduct security missions in cooperation with the Jefferson
Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The
Cavalry Squadron as part of the Louisiana Army National Guard supports and
supplements local, state, or federal agencies’ efforts to save lives, protect
key assets, and ensure the health and public safety of the citizens of Louisiana.
